The Unmanned Systems and Robotics Interoperability Center exists to promote the research, development and application of robotic systems and cost effective software solutions through the use of standardized interfaces and open source software. To meet this goal, USARIC will provide information regarding available products and services available to the unmanned systems community.

Software & Hardware

Open Source

  • The JAUS Tool Set is a new open source code generator that exploits the Services based approach of the SAE JAUS standards.
  • OpenJAUS provides a JAUS Reference Architecture based software solution also as open source.
  • Junior Middleware, the JAUS Router, is a dual licensed implementation of the SAE AS5669A JAUS Transport Standard. Now available with the LGPL!
  • JAUS++ is an open source C++ implementation of both the JAUS Reference Architecture and SAE standard (AS5669A, AS5710, and AS6009) available under the BSD license.
  • RI-JAUS is a dual-licensed (GPL/Commercial) cross-platform (Windows/Linux/assorted POSIX), C++ implementation of the JAUS standard. The commercial version has an EAR99 classification.

Student Competitions

USARIC is Currently Not Supporting the 2011 AUVSI Student Competitions

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International sponsors a growing number of student competitions each year. Visit their site at www.auvsi.org to learn more.

In past years USARIC offered resources for the student teams to help them meet the requirements of the IGVC, IARC, AUV and ASV Interoperability Challenge components in the competitions. The list below provided references for the teams, but is no longer maintained.

  • [ARCHIVE ONLY]  The Student Competition Forums for the AUVSI teams to discuss the Interoperability Challenge rules.
  • [OUTDATED]  2010 Competition Rules. These have been updated from last year.
  • [NOT APPLICABLE]  Competition Agreement form. Please fill this out and email or fax as instructed to get the standards documents. You must be on a student team and we ask that only one request per team be submitted.
  • [OFF-LINE]  JAUS Validation Tool. JVT proved very useful to the teams that competed last year. It cannot validate all the requirements, but you will know quickly if your interface meets quite a few of them.
